The Boys is an adult themed superhero television series on Amazon prime, it is based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Its first season was released in July 2019, and at the time of this article it has completed two seasons and the third is under production. It is based on a superhero universe where superhero are monetized by a powerful company, it shows the real and terrible personas of superheroes; and a group called The Boys that fight to expose and stop their behind the scenes reign of terror.

The first thing you need to know about this show is, the fact that it is strongly adult themed and it contains some dark and offensive jokes; so I will advice to have an opened mind to better enjoy the show.

Generally the show has a very high production value, the visuals and sound are both spot-on. The actors also did a very good job in the sense that you could really feel the atmosphere, its like you are in the show. Karl Urban who played Butcher and Anthony Starr who played Homelander, really got deep into their roles; you could feel the fear they bring to the atmosphere, their pain and just all the emotions in their scenes.

The plot was also very solid; intriguing and complex. I really liked how the show captures the truth about the 21st Century, where most things we see on social media are just smocking mirrors. When the camera are down peoples really personalities show and it is mostly not what we expected. The were also a lot of plot twists and moments where you are just completely shocked. Comedic factor was not lacking at all, there were a lot of jokes which made the show more entertaining.

The truth about human nature is demonstrated in the show, this is the fact that power sometimes corrupts. The superheroes in the show are not heroes at all they just do whatever because they can. It also shows how big companies and politicians manipulate events and shape the narrative in order to favor their situations.

Although the show was not completely solid, there were a few lapses here and there as expected but The Boys is a really great show and I completely loved. It was funny, crazy and had amazing action. The actors also did a very good job and you could feel the emotion. I would rate this show 8.5/10.
