It was announced on December 7th 2020 that, 50 – 0 professional boxer Floyd Mayweather will be fighting 0 – 1 YouTube boxer Logan Paul. When I first was the post I was shocked mainly because of the difference in weight class as Floyd is 5’8, 150 lbs with a 72 in reach while Logan is 6’3, 200 lbs with 78 in reach and also I just never thought Floyd will accept the fight.

In all honesty Floyd has no reason to fight Logan, especially after losing KSI; I will say Logan did put up a good fight in the match but in the end he still lost. Considering Floyd would want to be part of this new exhibition / YouTube boxing era there are lot of other opponents. The reason Logan could secure this fight, in my opinion, is because he will attract more attention to the fight and garner new boxing fans than any another opponent would, even Jake Paul after his win against Nate Robinson. I really don’t know why may people, myself included, want to see Logan fight so badly; maybe because of his charisma and attitude but one thing for sure is that he will attract a lot of eyes.

Logan stands a good chance of gaining a lot from this fight win or lose, he could get more authority to challenge other top fighters and also make more from future fights. As long as Logan does not pull off a Nate Robinson he would walk away from the fight with more, all he needs to do is put up a good fight, land some clean punches and show some skill. Let’s look back at Connor McGregor’s fight against Mayweather in 2017, although he lost he gained a lot of respect from the boxing community. Especially because he came from a different fighting background and was able to survive 10 rounds and also land some good shots which some professional boxers could not do against Floyd.

Who do I think will win ? Honestly I can’t tell, Floyd has a really good chance but I support Logan Paul. Looking at Physical attributes Logan has a better chance of controlling and dominating the fight, especially during a grapple he can easily move Floyd around. Don’t get me wrong the size difference could also be used against Logan as Floyd can dance around him, wearing him out and deliver a knockout punch, and also we have all seen Floyd fight. Although Logan has proven to be able to go the distance and hold his own, the fight will be challenging for him. I just hope he does not underestimate Floyd and rely solely on his weight and height advantage. The fight is a Special Exhibition and the rules has not be announced yet; like what size gloves, how many rounds and the use of head gears, this could greatly influence the outcome of the fight. My advice to Logan is just try not to get Knocked out.

Any way the fight goes it would be a huge money grab for both fighters and they would also gain a lot of media publicity. I really can’t wait for the fight. February 20th 2021, save the date.
